The United States Medical Licensing Examination is an exam that is divided into three parts, that is step one, step two and step three. Step one is related to the basic knowledge of your medical science and step two is related to your clinical knowledge and clinical skills. Step three is the final test itself. This exam is required by all the U. S. residents and all the IMGs who want to be a resident in Pennsylvania or anywhere else in the United States.
In step one, you will be tested important concepts of medical science and basic to practice medicine. According to the United States Medical Licensing Examination, a special emphasis will be applied on principle and mechanism, underlying health diseases and therapy. You will have to solve 280 multiple choice questions, which are divided into seven 60-minutes blocks. This exam is completely computer based and length of the test will be one-day test session, which is eight hours.
Step two consists of two parts, that is a step 2 CK and step 2 CS. Step 2 CK is clinical knowledge, and step 2 CS is clinical skills. Before giving you the clinical skills, you better give clinical knowledge. In the clinical knowledge of step two, you will be assessed by examining your ability to apply medical knowledge, skills, and understanding of clinical science essentials.
In this step two, you will be given a patient. You will see the symptoms and you will analyze by applying your medical knowledge, your clinical law, and clinical knowledge. There would be 318 multiple-test questions, which will be divided into 16 blocks.
